Four Hereford hotspots you’ll want to visit at EAN Congress in under four weeks’ time

New kid on the block NMITE welcomes us to Hereford for Congress 2023: New models. We introduce four of Hereford’s best venues, on offer to all EAN members during Congress. Including a public lecture in the Cathedral (home of the Mappa Mundi) and Annual Dinner on The Left Bank overlooking the River Wye.

Situated on the Welsh border, the rural city of Hereford is a charming backdrop and foodie paradise. Join us…

1. Hereford Cathedral

The historic Hereford Cathedral – home of the Mappa Mundi – will host the EAN Congress public lecture on June 12th. Hereford Cathedral is built on a place of worship used since Saxon times.  It contains some of the finest examples of art and architecture from Norman times to the present day.The Hereford Mappa Mundi is unique in Britain’s heritage; an outstanding treasure of the medieval world, it records how 13th-century scholars interpreted the world in spiritual as well as geographical terms.

We are thrilled to welcome Professor Dame Athene Donald DBE, FRS to this iconic venue. Dame Athene is Master of Churchill College, Cambridge and a distinguished physicist. In this lecture that will appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds, she will explore how today we face new challenges – sustainability, equality, and the speed of innovation in computing, medicine and technology – need new kinds of engineers and scientists, particularly women.
