Committee Update: Shaping the Future of Engineering Education & How to Get Involved

The Engineering Professors’ Council’s (EPC) Education, Employability & Skills (EES) Committee met on 18th May 2026 (p. 1). We discussed critical sector shifts, advanced key initiatives, and outlined new ways for our wider membership to drive change.

Here are the vital highlights and open opportunities for you to get involved.

👋 Committee & Community News

  • Local Trends: Members reported shared institutional pressures around AI (in both engineering curricula and the learning journey), embedding employability and graduate attributes, and structural changes at the organisational and course level
  • Refreshed Terms: We updated our membership tenure rules to ensure transparent participation

🚀 Key Project Milestones

  • Emerging Stronger 2026: Our flagship campaign launched this week with webinars on assessment and student panels. Project page here.
  • Neuro-Inclusion Maturity Framework: The main report lands in June, followed by summer case studies and an autumn launch. Project page here.
  • Change Implementation Course: We are seeking funding for a course supporting engineering module or course leaders in implementing innovative practice
  • LLE Preparation: We agreed a need to convene a conversation regarding how engineering faculties are responding to the Lifelong Learning Entitlement.

🤝 How You Can Get Involved Today (contact admin@epc.ac.uk to follow up)

  • Participate in Emerging Stronger 2026: register for webinars, write a case study of innovative practice, help us solicit student perspectives, or join the project group.
  • Join the EES Committee: We have refreshed our membership strategy. We actively invite expressions of interest to join us. We particularly welcome representatives from Scotland and Wales
  • Share Your LLE Readiness: Let us know how your faculty is adapting its modular structures for LLE funding. Your feedback will shape a future discussion amongst Faculty Heads
  • Shape Our Next Agenda: Our next main meeting is on 3rd October 2026. It will focus heavily on toolkits, employability, and LLE. If you’re immersed in this type of project and believe EES could support you in your work, let us know
