Emma is a chartered civil engineer with over a decade of experience in the water and social sectors across the UK and India. A trained facilitator and passionate advocate for globally responsible engineering, Emma currently serves as Innovation Director at Engineers Without Borders UK, where she has expanded educational initiatives to deliver over a million hours of learning on globally responsible engineering annually.
Beyond her role at Engineers Without Borders, Emma is a trustee at Azuko, an architecture charity, and chair at the Useful Simple Trust, a certified B-Corp and Social Enterprise.

Born at an early age, Ben studied modern foreign languages. His early career involved lifelong learning, vocational and general qualifications, and local government.
Since joining the Engineering Council in 2012, Ben’s remit has included CPD, professional registration, and artificial intelligence. Notable achievements include the development and launch of the QuaD database; management of the mycareerpath CPD system; introduction of CPD sampling; and contributions to two Standards Review programmes.
Ben lives in south London with his wife and two daughters.

Abel Nyamapfene is a Professor (Teaching) in Engineering Education at University College London (UCL) where he is the founder and programme leader for the UCL MSc Engineering and Education.
He is a founding member of the UCL Integrated Engineering Programme (IEP), the award-winning teaching framework that underpins UCL undergraduate engineering programmes. Prior to his appointment at UCL, he led the modernisation and transformation of the MSc Electrical Power Systems Distance Learning programme at the University of Bath, and reformed the common first year for undergraduate engineering programmes at the University of Exeter. He has published extensively on his work on engineering curriculum reform and presented over 20 keynote addresses and invited talks across five continents.
