EERN Panel Discussion: AI and the Future of Feedback in Higher Education
Online event externalThis UK and Ireland Engineering Education Research Network (EERN) panel discussion brings together researchers and educators working on AI and feedback in higher education. The panel includes colleagues working across areas such as programme design, student engagement with feedback, and AI-supported approaches to feedback and assessment.
Feedback is central to student learning, but remains complex, time-intensive, and unevenly experienced by students. The emergence of generative AI has brought renewed focus to long-standing questions around feedback quality, academic judgement, student trust, and scalability.
The session uses a format combining short pre-recorded inputs with a live discussion. Recordings will be shared with registered participants in advance. The live session will focus on discussion, drawing on these contributions to explore key themes, tensions, and differing perspectives across institutions and contexts.
Participants will be encouraged to contribute questions and reflections throughout. The aim is to support collective sense-making within the EERN community and identify areas for future collaboration.
