The Royal Academy of Engineering is delighted to invite applications to the Visiting Professors Scheme, a prestigious industry-to-academia initiative that brings outstanding professionals into UK higher education to share real-world expertise and shape the future of engineering education.
This scheme welcomes experienced industrialists, entrepreneurs, consultants and innovators to join UK universities as Visiting Professors, where they will play a vital role in enriching teaching and learning, strengthening employability and skills, and building meaningful, long-term partnerships between academia and industry.
Appointed Visiting Professors will work within engineering (and related) academic units—such as faculties, schools or departments—using their professional knowledge and insight to enhance student learning, support skills development, and improve outcomes for UK engineering graduates. Through this collaboration, the scheme aims to deepen universities’ engagement with industry while ensuring students benefit from contemporary, real-world perspectives.
The scheme supports appointments for three academic years, running from 1 September 2026 to 31 July 2029, with funding of up to £10,000 per year.
Deadline: Monday 20 April 2026 at 4pm
The EPC has been a champion of this scheme for many years and strongly recommend that members – especially those who may not have applied successfully before – identify and work with suitable individual to apply for this award.
