The Government’s proposed draft Design and Technology programme of study would be a huge backward step for a subject that develops vital skills that young people need for the future.
In a recent online poll, over 91% of the 1239 people who responded so far believe that these proposals do not represent high-quality D&T or a positive change to the curriculum requirements.
It has also been widely criticised by many prominent figures including Sir James Dyson, Dick Powell – co-founder and design director at Seymourpowell, Sir John Parker – President Royal Academy of Engineering, John Mathers – Chief Executive Design Council and Dick Olver – Chair E4E.
But it is not a foregone conclusion, there is still time to change it.
Your help to convince the Government that they need to replace this with a challenging, world-class curriculum – by responding to the consultation by the deadline of 16 April 2013.
