Webinar: Developing Engineering Ethics scenarios – Nurturing character strengths through role-play and reflection
Online event freeAs part of the EPC’s Engineering Ethics Toolkit we will be exploring how to nurture character strengths in learners by means of role-play and reflection.
This free to attend workshop will be delivered by Dr. Sergio Guillén Grillo from the Online Ethics Center at the University of Virginia, supported by Dr. Madeline Polmear from King’s College London.
Strengthening engineers’ capacity for ethical action requires more than familiarity with professional codes and ethical principles. It requires the confidence and skills to act effectively in situations characterised by uncertainty, competing values, and difficult stakeholder decisions.
Contextualized, case-based learning through simulations and scenario development can provide powerful opportunities for students to practice ethical reasoning and decision-making in realistic professional settings.
This webinar draws on recent collaboration between the Online Ethics Center for Engineering & Science (OEC) and the Engineering Professors Council (EPC) to advance the development of engineering ethics cases and explore the role of scenario-based learning in preparing engineers for ethical practice.
