The Engineering Professors’ Council is delighted to congratulate Professor Beverley Gibbs FREng, EPC Vice-President and President Elect, on her election as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
This prestigious recognition celebrates Beverley’s outstanding contribution to engineering and, in particular, her leadership and impact in engineering education. Throughout her career, she has championed innovation in the way we educate and develop engineers, bringing together experience from industry, academia and institutional leadership.
These are qualities that EPC members already know well. As our Vice-President and President Elect, Beverley brings a strong commitment to our engineering academic community and to ensuring that engineering higher education continues to evolve to meet the needs of students, society, employers and the profession.
Her experience spans industry and academia, including senior roles at the University of Sheffield and UCL, as well as significant leadership roles at NMITE and the Dyson Institute. At the Dyson Institute, she expanded the academic portfolio, developed its research culture and led the Institute to Full Degree Awarding Powers.
Beverley is one of 75 leading figures from engineering and technology elected to the Academy’s Fellowship in 2026, the year in which the Royal Academy of Engineering celebrates its 50th anniversary. This year’s new Fellows include a record 24 women.
Her election is not only a wonderful personal achievement, but also a welcome recognition of the importance of leadership and excellence in engineering education. It is a field that is central to the EPC’s mission and to the future strength of engineering in the UK.
Beverley will be formally admitted to the Fellowship at the Academy’s ceremony in London on 19 October 2026.
