The Royal Academy of Engineering’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Conference 2026: Engineering for Communities

The Royal Academy of Engineering’s 2026 EDI Conference, themed Engineering for Communities, will explore how fostering psychological safety empowers engineers to speak up, challenge constructively, and contribute ideas that lead to more inclusive and equitable outcomes for both the profession and wider society. Since its launch in 2021, this flagship annual event has brought together engineering leaders, practitioners, and innovators to share best practice, address sector‑wide challenges, and inspire meaningful action on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The Academy invites you to register via this LINK for the online event, and if you would like to attend the in‑person, please fill in this expression of interest form as places in person are limited.

This year’s programme blends inspiration with practical application. A keynote from Dame Judith Hackitt DBE FREng, followed by a panel discussion, will examine why psychological safety is fundamental to engineering culture and how it underpins physical safety in practice. Building on these insights, the afternoon workshop will convene engineers from across sectors, regions, and disciplines to collaboratively explore approaches to co‑creating equitable engineering practices that meet the needs of the diverse communities we serve.
