Identifying threshold concepts in undergraduate mathematics teaching

LMS teaching and learning workshop in HE to identify and examine the implications of threshold concepts in undergraduate mathematics modules.

As part of a recently awarded HE Teaching and Learning grant funded by the London Mathematical Society, this is a one-day in-person workshop, organised by EPC Ethics Ambassadors Co-Chair Rehan Shah, on Thursday 30th May 2024 at Queen Mary University of London on identifying and examining the implications of threshold concepts in undergraduate mathematics teaching.

This will be of interest to a wide range of academic lecturers and education staff (from faculty directors to teaching fellows to learning and teaching support staff) teaching mathematics-based modules in higher education, and will provide a valuable opportunity for cross-institutional discussions about teaching and learning in mathematics.

Please note:

  • The event is free, but registration will be limited to the first 50 individuals signing up, so please only register if you are able to attend in person.
  • Luncheon as well as tea, coffee and refreshments will be provided on the day.
  • If possible, please bring your laptops with you, as we will make use of them in some of the sessions.
