Degree classification

An established regular in university league tables, good honours degrees have, more recently, been in the spotlight as the media and sector grapple with the notion of “grade inflation” and the impact of Covid-19 no-detriment policies.

Engineering degree classification data for the last seven years (2012/13 to 2018/19) can now be downloaded as a degree classification beta dashboard pending the launch of the new EPC website.

You may also be interested in the July 2019 data blog on grade inflation.

Older data (the previous EPC degree classification summary from 2007/8 to 2014/15) can still be accessed here, but is no longer being updated. Please note that changes to the HESA fixed file and the introduction of HEIDI Plus have led to some small changes in the historic data.

The degree classification beta dashboard contains up to 2018/19 data published by HESA. Data for 2019/20 has been made available by HESA but cannot be presented as a time series due to the introduction of HECOS codes to the dataset. We hope to be able to include this data in the EPC online project.
